I love Pink Martini and pink martinis

Pink Martini = one of my favorite bands. I'm sure probably most of you haven't heard of them, but you should. They're awesome. They sing in many different languages, and their sound ranges from spanish salsa to french cafe. According to their website, “Pink Martini is like a romantic Hollywood musical of the 1940s or 50s – but with a global perspective which is modern. We bring melodies and rhythms from different parts of the world together to create something which is new and beautiful.” I think that sums it up.

We got to see them in concert with the National Symphony Orchestra last Thursday. We were celebrating the fact that the week before we paid the final payment on my biggest student loan- which is an occassion to celebrate, indeed! Our goal is to have every bit of debt (the rest of the loans and our car) paid off in 2 years or less so that we can have more flexible income flow and that when we decide to have kids, we can afford for me to stay at home with them. It's a good reason to wait a few years to have kids, I think.

The band calls themselves a "mini-orchestra" because they have 12 members. But hearing them with the National Symphony Orchestra was incredible. We also had built up quite a lot of excitement to see them, so much so that we accidentally went to the Kennedy Center the week before, not realizing that we had the date a week off! We felt silly, and disappointed, but it was a good practice run since we had been running late and when the night of the real concert finally rolled around we made sure we gave ourselves extra time!

pink martinis = one of my favorite drinks. Joel made some with cranberry juice, vodka, champagne and raspberry liquer for Valentine's Day. And of course, before we went to the Pink Martini concert, we had to have some pink martinis!

So, if you're looking for a cool new band, I highly recommend Pink Martini: http://www.pinkmartini.com/ Thanks, Mike, for introducing us to them! And if you're looking for a pretty pink drink, I recommend pink martinis. Simply mix 1/2 oz raspberry liquer with 1 oz of vodka and 2 oz of cranberry juice in a martini shaker over ice. Strain into a glass and add 1 oz. of champagne. Voila! Pink martinis, all around. Life is good.
