My Paintings

Many of you have been to my house and commented on the artwork around. Most of you are surprised to learn that I have done all the paintings in our house myself. A few of you have told me that I should do more, maybe even open a little stand on the beach somewhere. Sigh. That would be nice. But until then.... Enjoy the pictures of the paintings. I've never painted for anyone else but I'd be happy to be commissioned, especially for a friend!

Here is a description of said paintings:

(right) Double plumerias, inspired by our honeymoon trip. There was a painting in a gift shop that was around $1,000. I thought to myself "I could do that!" Joel found a postcard with 2 plumerias on it, I brought it home, and a couple of weeks later, the first painting was created.

(left) Napali Sunset: Also inspired by Hawaii, I did this painting for Joel's grad school office. It now lives in our entry way.

(below right) Hyacinth: I guess I just liked this flower on a calendar I had. So one day I was home sick and painted it. Some paintings are easier than others; this was one of the easy ones. I especially like the greens in it. This one now lives in our kitchen.

(left) Waimea Canyon: This is a 3-panel painting that came about after a Christmas visit to Kauai. It's a little hard to see in this picture, but you get the idea...

(right) Living Water: This most recent painting is an abstract landscape interpretation of the death and resurrection of my Saviour, Jesus Christ. The left panel represents death, with the sunset colors, red blood and darkness. The right panel represents the resurrection with colors of the sunrise, white light and blue water.
