Jumbo's Pumpkin Patch

Even though it was 80 degrees last Saturday, Joel and I decided to pretend like it was fall and go to a pumpkin patch. Jumbo's is about 45 minutes outside DC in Middletown, MD (http://www.jumbos.org/). We picked this place (no pun intended!) because it doesn't charge you to get into their little Fall Festival like some of the other places do.

Basically, what you do: Show up, buy 50 cent apple cider, hop on a hayride to the pumpkin patch (with LOTS of little kids, we were highly aware of our childlessness!), walk around the field and select your favorite pumpkin(s). Much like a pick your own Christmas tree farm, you find one that looks good but then - look at that one over there? Is it better? This process continues until you find the perfect pumpkin(s)- in our case, this meant one medium one for Trent and Amy (I painted "Nadia's First Pumpkin" on it before we gave it to them) and 2 for us- one larger one and one smaller (Joel thought they should go together in pairs, and they do look cute together). Then you take the hayride back to the barn where they measure your pumpkin and you pay. We also bought some lovely little gourds for 25 cents each and some squash to cook. Yum.

The rest of the weekend was spent being homebodies... we played Risk for about 4 hours on Sunday. I love being home with my hubby! :)

Enjoy the fall!
