26.2 in 4:03:31

Joel ran in the Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday. He finished the 26.2 miles in 4 hours, 3 minutes and 31 seconds. It was a great day for running (is there ever a good day to run that far?) and I had fun wading through the crowds at different vantage points to cheer him on and take some pictures. And boy was he glad I remembered to bring his sunglasses!

Running on the National Mall. Click here for a map of the course- he ran through Georgetown, around Hains Point, the National Mall, through Crystal City and finished at the Marine Corps Memorial in Rosslyn.
In an ice foot bath after the race. I like the huge Croc.
This photo was downloaded from the Washington Post. Yes, those are all runners. Some 30,000 competed and 18,000 finished.
Great job, Joel- you did it! Maybe next year I will join you. We'll see...
